Over the years, Bren has provided a wide range of support to both me and my non-profit. From CV writing and LinkedIn optimisation to grant sourcing and proposal editing, her support has been invaluable. She is a strong believer in women and youth-led initiatives and has a proven track record of delivering impactful projects.
Bren has always looked out for me like a big sister, consistently sharing life-changing opportunities and encouraging me to pass them on to others, which I was always happy to do. She never stopped at sharing. She followed up, explained things patiently, guided me through each step, and made sure I put forward my best possible applications.
I genuinely could not have come this far without Bren’s constant reminders of how important my work is and her encouragement to reach for the stars. More than her words, it was her actions that made the difference, especially at times when I felt lost and needed a clear roadmap. I will always be deeply grateful to Bren.

I am grateful for the opportunity to provide my reflection on Brenda. I have known Brenda through my colleague, Kalkidan. From the very beginning, we have always felt comfortable reaching out to her for any technical assistance, without any doubt about her responsiveness and willingness to reply promptly. Brenda is nothing short of amazing. Chi, as I fondly call her, has always been a true people-person, even back in our secondary school days. Although we weren’t in the same class during our three years of junior secondary school, she was widely known for her brilliance, warmth, and lively personality. Everyone knew Brenda.

We eventually became classmates in senior secondary school, and that was when our friendship truly began. At a time when it was common for top students to stay within their own small circles, Brenda was the complete opposite. She was genuinely committed to helping others grow and never looked down on anyone, regardless of their academic standing or background. This quality endeared her to me.

We started having joint reading sessions and solving math problems together during free periods, and the group soon expanded to include more girls. In SS3, we were only nine girls in a class of fifty, and Brenda made sure no girl was left behind. She was outspoken, confident, and always advocated for what she believed in, especially girls’ empowerment. Combined with her intelligence, it was no surprise that she was chosen as Head Girl.
Brenda has never been intimidated by anyone’s success; she truly believes in collective upliftment. This is why, even after fifteen years, our friendship remains solid. I still remember graduating from university and struggling to find a job, Brenda encouraged me constantly and never allowed me to feel discouraged or diminished in any way.

Chi is a such a solid person and I’d always give her a 💯 anyday anytime.
